Parents and community members of the greater Boiling Springs area,

It has come to my attention that a small group in our community has inaccurately linked our school with other development projects in our area. I would like to address those inaccuracies directly with you all today, as fairness and transparency is at the core of how we operate at Libertas Academy.

In the spring of 2023, Libertas Academy purchased 10 acres of property on Rainbow Lake Road, from a local family, for the sole purpose of building the first public charter school in the history of Boiling Springs. At the time of purchase the property was completely undeveloped, with only an abundance of trees on the land, and with absolutely no residents on the premises.

As you all are aware, there are many development projects across Boiling Springs and Spartanburg County as a whole. One of those many projects is a mixed-use space directly behind the school's property, which will include both residential and commercial developments. As we understand it, this development project will unfortunately displace families that once lived on this property. It is important to note that Libertas Academy has never been and will never be a part of this development project. To say otherwise is blatantly inaccurate. Our school wishes to simply clarify this point and to ask members of our community to express their concerns with other development projects in our community to the appropriate individuals in charge of those projects.

As a native of Spartanburg County, the work I do at Libertas Academy is very personal to me. It is also important to note that our mission at Libertas Academy will remain to develop the next generation of American citizens, by providing them with the highest quality education possible in Spartanburg County, so they can reach their full potential. Thank you all for your support of Libertas Academy.

Sincerely,

Celina Patton
